THIS COLD AND FLU SEASON HAS BEEN INSANE!!

I’m in a facebook group for local parents called Parents in Magnolia, Ballard, and Queen Anne. It gives a community-type feel without face-to-face interaction. It’s a helpful place for kid tips in Seattle. Not only that, the topics run the gamut and it’s interesting to see other people’s perspectives.

One topic I’ve seen repeatedly in the last two weeks is about children who have seemingly had a cold or cough or flu-like symptoms for months on end. The advice given was: steam baths, humidifiers, supplements, checking house for mold, prescription medications, diet changes, etc. There were also the typical comments like, the bugs have been worse than usual this year so it’s to be expected that your child is sick for an unusually long period of time.

I have two children, ages 9 and 2. The flu season was intense. It hit Seattle twice this year, and the colds I’ve seen have been more severe than usual. My children didn’t get the flu. They both caught colds that resolved within three days with no residual coughing.

How is it that my children missed the severe sicknesses that are rampant every year? How is it they recovered so quickly from their colds? I make sure my children get plenty of sleep and take multivitamins, and they are also both under regular chiropractic care. WHY DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE MAKE A DIFFERENCE? IT STRENGHTHENS YOUR BODY FROM THE INSIDE OUT. External factors are less likely to phase you if your internal environment is strong and healthy. Your body is meant to take care of sicknesses; that’s the best part. It’s meant to heal itself.

A typical cold or flu usually lasts 3-7 days, with residual coughing for up to two weeks after you first feel symptoms. If your child is coughing for weeks on end, it’s their body’s way of letting you know that there is an imbalance somewhere in the body. Have your child checked by a pediatric chiropractor and experience the joy of better health!
